Dental Sealants

Highly effective in preventing decay on the biting surfaces of your back teeth, dental sealants are a simple procedure in which a tooth-colored plastic "coating" is painted onto the surface of the tooth .In our office we only use a flowable composite (quartz particle reinforced) as the material of choice due to its increased wear resistance. This allows for a longer lasting service than a typical unfilled resin material. This effectively "seals" the deep grooves acting as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Dental sealants protect the depressions and grooves of your teeth from food particles and plaque that brushing and flossing can't reach.

Easy to apply, sealants usually are completed in a relatively short dental visit. Our reinforced or “filled” sealants hold up well under the forces of normal chewing.

Children and adults can benefit from sealants in the fight against tooth decay.

A major advantage in eliminating both food debris as well as early cavities (decay) within these grooves is Air Abrasion. Air Abrasion is a mini sand (particle)-blaster, which is very effective at also removing decayed tooth structure- usually without anesthesia.
