Teeth whitening can be used to correct many tooth discoloration. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage (for example, tetracycline staining) to teeth. Using the latest in whitening technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, "brilliant" smile.
When your teeth reach the brightness you want, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. If your “natural” teeth, after this initial conditioning of your enamel, are very dark and additional measures are needed, an in office power teeth whitening session can be done to maximize the success of the whitening process. We use the ZOOM 2 whitening system developed bv Dr. Bill Dorfman of ABC’s”Extreme Makeover”. We'll want to take "after" photos at your next appointment.

How is it done?
For optimal results, it is recommended that you have your teeth professionally cleaned prior to teeth whitening. Your teeth are then polished with a special mixture immediately before the isolation procedure to remove any material that may interfere with the uptake of the bleaching gel. All of the soft tissue and gums are then isolated with gauze and a light cured resin that blocks the bleaching light thus exposing only your teeth to the ZOOM whitening light and gel. It usually takes 3 sessions of 15 minutes each but we may include a fourth session if necessary.
Considerations
Over the counter teeth whitening products are available, however, due to the lack of a custom tray that is fabricated directly from models of one’s own teeth, the possibility of tooth sensitivity and/or irritation of the gum tissue is virtually eliminated. The goal is always to use a bleaching product on only healthy, solid enamel and always avoiding any exposed root surface and of course gum tissue. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be a more viable option.
